Reward offered for missing Fair Oak cat that sparked search

A REWARD is being offered for anyone who helps find a missing cat.

Sherman went missing on January 2 from St Francis Animal Shelter on Mortimers Lane, Fair Oak, and staff are desperate to have him home.

Manager Helen Shaw said it is unlike Sherman to venture far or miss meal times.

Now supporters of the shelter are offering a reward to anyone with information that leads to him being found.

Helen said: “Please contact me if you have any idea where our boy is… all calls and messages will be treated in complete confidence.

“The reported local sightings turned out to be another similar looking cat, so sadly we really don’t think he’s in this area.

“Perhaps he got into a car in the lay-by? Perhaps someone assumed that as he was outside a rescue centre, that he didn’t have a home and took him back to their house?

“We have received a possible description of a woman in her 30s who may have taken him. Or sadly maybe someone has knocked him down when driving. Whatever has happened to him, we just need to know.

“This is so unlike Sherman – he loves living here and his life – free roaming between my house and the shelter grounds and local fields. He is always home for dinner and always comes running back to me when I call.

“Please keep sharing his posters – someone must know something.

“Importantly, the reward has been donated by Sherman’s family and friends. This is not coming out of the charity’s funds.”

Staff are concerned that someone may have taken him in and he is unable to return to the shelter.

Sherman’s previous owners asked for him to be kept at the shelter for the rest of his life because he is very destructive.

If anyone sees Sherman, please call 07947 592043.
