Reward offered for info on dog found dead with gunshot wound

State Police are attempting to locate the owners of a dog that was found dead in the town of Sand Lake and now the New York State Human Association is offering a reward.

Troopers say the dog is described as a neutered male German Short Haired Pointer with brown on the head and buttocks. It’s body is described as mainly white with brown spots.

Investigators say he also has a large cyst on his left front paw.

State Police say the dog was not microchipped.

The dog was located March 4th near power lines off Stewart Lane in the town of Sand Lake. State Police say the dog appears to have died from a gunshot wound.

State Police say the age of the animal is unknown, but he is believed to be older due to the grey in his muzzle.

The association is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing the dog
