OXFORD, Miss. — The search for a 20-year-old Ole Miss student continues after police say his car was found on Monday afternoon.

Jimmie Lee, also called ‘Jay’, hasn’t been seen or heard from since early Friday morning, according to both University of Mississippi and Oxford Police.

Lee was last seen leaving his apartment wearing a silver robe, gold cap, and gray slippers.

What happened next is still a mystery at this point for investigators.

“It’s pretty unsettling because it’s Oxford,” said Ole Miss senior Tyler Butler.

As a new week begins in Oxford, Mississippi, students who are still on and around campus for the summer said the disappearance of one of their own has left them shocked.

“It’s kind of scary actually because now you have to be aware until you know what’s really going on,” said neighbor and Ole Miss senior Lakiowa Milan.

Butler said, “Worry probably because I didn’t know if it was a good night gone bad or somebody with more hostile intentions.”

University and Oxford Police said Lee was last seen leaving his apartment complex, the Campus Walk Apartments, early Friday morning.

And, by Monday afternoon, police said his Black Ford Fusion was found at a towing lot after it was towed from the Molly Barr Trails complex Friday afternoon.

For Milan, finding the car brings more questions than answers.

“Definitely sketchy for sure but hopefully there’s a good explanation, I feel like that’s out of character from what I know about him,” she said.

If you have any information on where Lee may be, you can call Oxford Police at 662-232-2400, the University of Mississippi Police at 662-915-7234, and CrimeStoppers at 662-234-8477.

Oxford Police say there’s currently a $1,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to Lee.
