A MAN WHO HAD HIS TRUCK STOLEN WITH HIS DOG STILL INSIDE AND GENTILLY HAS NOW BEEN REUNITED WITH HIS PET AND WDSU REPORTER ELI BRAND SPOKE WITH HIM EARLIER TODAY ABOUT THE TOLL THAT THIS WHOLE ORDEAL REALLY TOOK ON HIM. BUT ALL IN ALL, IT’S BEEN A ROLLERCOASTER OVER 24 HOURS. FAMILY MEMBER, HE’S ONE OF MY KIDS IN THIS SURVEILLANCE VIDEO, YOU CAN SEE STUDENTS RECONSTRUCT STOLEN WITH HIS FURRY CHILD INSIDE THE BEGINNING OF AN ORDEAL THAT HAD HIM WORRIED FOR A DAY. IT WAS THAT THAT DISTURBING TRAIN GOT INTO TOWN FRIDAY NIGHT TO SEE HIS FAMILY FOR THANKSGIVING. HE HAD DRIVEN ALL THE WAY FROM FLORIDA. HE SAYS HE WAS TAKING LUGGAGE INSIDE AND LEFT THE TRUCK RUNNING SO HIS DOG SAM COULD STAY WARM. IT WAS TAKEN SECONDS LATER. HE’S BEEN THERE SINCE EVERY DAY. YOU KNOW, LIKE MY WIFE SAID, AS I TOLD HER, I SAID, I’VE BEEN WITH THAT DOG EVERY DAY SINCE HE WAS BORN. AND SHE SAID, HE’S BEEN WITH YOU EVERY DAY AND HE IS A PART OF OUR FAMILY. AND HE’S VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE GET HIM BACK AND GET HIM BACK. HE DID. AFTER TRAHAN SAYS WDSU VIEWER SAW OUR PIECE AND CALLED HIM WITH THE DOG’S WHEREABOUTS. The truck is still missing.====================================================================A man who is visiting New Orleans to visit his family for Thanksgiving says his truck was stolen Friday night with his 4-year-old dog still inside. He says the dog has been missing for hours and he is asking for help to find it.He says the truck was stolen after his hours-long drive to Gentilly from Florida. Surveillance video shows he had stepped out of his truck with luggage in his hands when the truck was stolen. He says he left the truck running so the dog could be comfortable in the cold weather.“I’ve been with that dog every day since he was born, and she said he’s been with you every day and he is a part of our family and it’s very important that we get him back. Please help. Anybody. Just give us a call,” said Stuart Trahan, who is the dog and truck’s owner.The truck is a gray Dodge Ram with a Louisiana Tech Forestry sticker on the top right of the back windshield. The dog, whose name is Sam, is a Fox Red Labrador. Police are investigating the incident. Trahan says a $500 reward is available to anyone who drops the dog off at a local animal shelter. He says it can be done anonymously. He asks that you can contact him at 337-304-3723 when it is done.
