1 Dead In Shooting At Santa Rosa Party; Reward Offered For Information

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — One person was killed in a shooting at a party over the weekend in west Santa Rosa, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, dispatchers received multiple 911 calls about a shooting that had just happened at a party in the 5500 block of Hall Road in an unincorporated area of Santa Rosa.

Deputies found a large, chaotic party with a crowd of partygoers.

The suspect and numerous guests left before deputies arrived. A California Highway Patrol helicopter crew helped search for more party guests.

Detectives determined there was a physical fight at the party, then multiple shots were fired and at least two people were shot.

Detectives identified the suspect as David Morales, 20, Novato. Morales was arrested Saturday afternoon in Vallejo. He was being held in Sonoma County jail without bail on suspicion of homicide and attempted homicide, according to Sheriff’s Spokesperson Misti Wood.

The gun or guns used in the shooting had not yet been found, Wood said, and detectives believe more people may have been involved in the shooting.

“Unfortunately, most potential witnesses are uncooperative,” Wood said.

A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered by the Sonoma County Alliance Community Engagement and Safety Rewards Fund for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects involved.

The Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information about the shooting to call 707-565-2185 or submit information online at https://www.sonomasheriff.org/silent-witness.
