In sudden vote, Jupiter creates own Fire-Rescue department, citing rising county costs


JUPITER — The town of Jupiter is on its way to forming its own fire-rescue department, following months of consideration and years of contemplation by Jupiter officials — and one council discussion that grew heated.  

Town manager Frank Kitzerow now will begin the process of creating a department, including notifying the town’s current provider, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, that it will no longer require those services.
