Longtime friend turns alleged dog-napper: DC police search for man who stole Pitbull mix

D.C. Police is searching for a man who allegedly stole a dog from a friend after agreeing to watch it, police said.

On Sunday, October 22, a woman asked her friend to watch her dog in the 3800 block of 9th Street, Southeast. When she attempted to get her dog from the man, he asked if he could buy the dog from her, according to a police report.

The woman told the man that her dog was not for sale and that she wanted her dog back; however, the man then told her that if she didn’t pay him, he would kill her dog.

The woman then reached out to police and told them she is longtime friends with this man, the report stated.

The missing dog is a brown Pitbull Terrier Mix named “Rocky Apollo.” Police have not released any information on the man who stole him.
