Middleburg man charged with corruption of minors, cruelty to animals

MIDDLEBURG — A 33-year-old Middleburg man is accused of abusing two juveniles after the girls disclosed details to a police officer at Midd-West Middle School.

Elliot J. Hart was arrested by state police at Selinsgrove who received a report Friday from Nathan Fisher, an officer employed in the school district, about alleged abuse the girls faced.

One of the girls, 14, said Hart had been sexually inappropriate with her for several years and the behavior was escalating, according to court records.

She said Hart had recently forced her to lay next to him while he was nude, made her consume alcohol and tried to touch her breasts, court records said.

The girl said Hart also grabbed her by the throat and threw her on a table. Another girl told police she witnessed the 14-year-old being held by the throat by Hart.

Hart is also accused of stepping on a dog’s neck, kicking it and attempting to shoot the animal inside a house, court records said.

He was released on $10,000 bail following an arraignment before on-call District Judge Scott Zeigler on charges of felony corruption of minors, discharging a firearm inside an occupied structure and misdemeanor indecent assault and recklessly endangering another person.
