Kanawha County man pleads guilty to possession of child porn

A Kanawha County man is facing prison time after admitting to downloading dozens of child pornography videos, according to federal prosecutors.

Jerry Dewayne Carroll, 42, of Crown Hill has pleaded guilty to possession of prepubescent child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia.

The news release said Carroll was found to be in possession of at least 82 videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Court records said Carroll admitted to downloading the files and keeping them in his encrypted cloud storage.

Sentencing in the case is scheduled for June 18 where Carroll faces up to 20 years in prison, at least five years of supervised release time and a fine of $250,000, according to prosecutors.

Carroll will be required to register as a sex offender.
