District Hotel offering reward to find thief

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A local hotel is offering up a reward after a bag with more than $1,200 in cash was stolen.

The District Hotel was in the process of closing. The outdoor bartender was counting the money, put it in a bag and then set it down.

Within a couple of minutes that bag was gone.

“We were having a party here at the pool, and by closing, someone decided that they were going to go back and rob our outside bar here at the pool,” said Tim Selby, Co-Owner of District Hotel.

They are in shock and disbelief that $1,200 was stolen from right under their noses.

Selby says something like this has never happened before, but security cameras captured the theft.

“Our main concern here is the security and safety of our customers or people that are staying here at the hotel,” said Selby. “For this to happen, it’s kind of outrageous during Pride Month for someone to come in and do this to our people here in this community.”

Now they are asking for your help finding the man caught in the act.

“I would like put out a $250 reward for anybody that can give us any leads that will lead to an arrest of this individual,” said Selby.

Moving forward, they will look into ways to increase security so this doesn’t happen again.

“Security’s our main concern here for our guests,” said Selby. “We have four or five security people that work here full time, and for this to happen, it’s really disappointing.”

If anybody recognizes the man, they are asked to call police.
