A reward is now being offered in the ongoing search for a Plymouth, Massachusetts, man with a history of dementia who was last seen leaving a hospital Tuesday morning. Rodney Riviello, 69, was last seen Tuesday at 11:15 a.m., leaving Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. Officials said he may have been walking toward Jabez Corner.There is now a $5,000 reward being offered for information that leads to his safe return. “We know that many of you have put in countless hours searching for Mr. Riviello and for that we could not be more thankful … ” Plymouth police posted. “This is still a very active investigation, and we have staff dedicated in the efforts of obtaining credible information that we can use to locate Mr. Riviello.”Officials said Riviello was treated at the hospital after apparently suffering a fall. He was later discharged.”(The hospital) told me he was released to home. We did learn that they offered him a taxi voucher that apparently was taking too long, and he became agitated and left without it,” Riviello’s daughter, Michelle Norris, said Wednesday.Riviello is Caucasian, bald and heavy-set. He was wearing a collared, striped shirt and blue shorts, and he may have been wearing a Yankees baseball hat.”We understand that he did not have his wallet, he had no phone, and he’s out of pocket,” Plymouth police Capt. Jason Higgins said Wednesday. Riviello’s family said he lives in Manomet and has connections to Boxborough and Provincetown in Massachusetts, as well as Clyde and Brooklyn in New York. For days, teams have been searching various parts of Plymouth, including Cedarville and Manomet, and scouring footage from closed-circuit televisions and security cameras looking for any signs of Riviello. Search teams comprised of members of law enforcement, firefighters, EMS and volunteers have also used heat-sensing drones and K9s.Police asked anyone within a 5-mile radius of the hospital to search their property and check their Ring or security cameras to see if any footage of Riviello was captured.On Wednesday, Plymouth police shared a photo of a silver Nissan Armada picking up a person resembling Riviello at BID Plymouth’s driveway exit at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. As of Friday, no links to that vehicle to Riviello have been announced by police. “My father did have some memory issues. He had a series of mini-strokes that had done some damage to his brain. And so he doesn’t have a lot of logic and reasoning to make good decisions in order to get himself safely home,” Michelle Norris said on Wednesday.One of the major concerns for Riviello’s safety has been the extreme heat that has gripped the region since Tuesday.”I think I’d worry about myself in this heat for 26 hours,” Michelle Norris said on Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 508-746-1212.”His 70th birthday is in just a few weeks, and we’re not giving up hope. We’re confident that he’ll be home safe to celebrate his birthday with us soon,” son Dan Riviello said.In a statement to NewsCenter 5, Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth said it was cooperating with police in the search for Riviello. “Our thoughts are with the family as they navigate this very challenging time. BID Plymouth has fully cooperated with the Plymouth Police Department, and will continue to do so.
