Former New Mexico State Police officer gets 18 years for sexual abuse of a 14-year-old

A former New Mexico State Police officer was sentenced to 18 years in prison for sexually abusing a 14-year-old.

Ronald Jackson, 55, was sentenced in Third District Court on Thursday.

Jackson was found guilty by a Las Cruces jury and convicted of 1 count of criminal sexual penetration of a child.

In April 2020, allegations of sexual assault that occurred when the victim was 14, were reported to CPS.

During the investigation, Las Cruces Police Department detectives found that Jackson had been fired by the New Mexico State Police for inappropriate behaviors with female co-workers and was terminated from the correctional facility for inappropriate touching and an alleged a rape charge on an inmate at the prison.

Charges for the prison incident were dropped due to the female inmate dying while she was incarcerated.

The victim was in the 4th grade when the assaults began and continued over a 2-year period.

She reported all of the incidents because she felt that Jackson was ‘stalking’ her on her social media.

The victim’s social media platforms sent her notifications of a screenshot by another user.

Jackson, whom she had blocked, was found to be stalking her on her social media for over a year.
