MELVINDALE, Mich. (WJRT) – Authorities are offering a $37,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of a Puerto Rican man who is accused of shooting and killing a Melvindale police officer over the weekend.
The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is looking for 44-year-old Michael Lopez. He was last seen Sunday wearing black pants and no shirt with a goatee and numerous tattoos.
Lopez is accused of shooting and killing Melvindale police officer Mohamed Said in the line of duty around 11:40 a.m. Sunday. The shooting took place during a struggle near the 17000 block of Clarann Street in Melvindale at a car wash.
Lopez is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call 1-800-ATF-TIPS or Melvindale police at 313-429-1070.
