LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A $1,000 reward has been offered as the Mohave County (Ariz.) Sheriff’s Office searches for a man who fled detectives who were investigating a July 25 homicide.
Tharen Joseph Hayes-Trantham, 24, is wanted on a felony warrant for Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement, according to MCSO officials. Authorities said Trantham should be considered armed and dangerous.
Melvin Grayson, 58, was arrested and faces a murder charge in the July 25 shooting death of Patrick Benson.
Detectives following a lead in the homicide located Trantham on Thursday, Aug. 1, at about 8:40 a.m., but he sped away when they tried to stop him. He was driving a red Dodge Durango, and detectives did not pursue because of public safety concerns as Trantham drove away recklessly at high speed.
Trantham’s vehicle was later found in northeast Kingman, but he was nowhere in sight. Kingman is about 105 miles southeast of Las Vegas via U.S. 93.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and apprehension of Trantham. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kingman Police Department at (928) 753-2191, or report anonymously to Mohave Silent Witness by calling (928) 753-1234. Do not approach or attempt to apprehend. Call 911 if immediate response is required.
