Reward in killing of javelina in Tucson

A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest in the fatal shooting of a javelina in Tucson, authorities say.

The male javelina was killed by a single gunshot at close range, Arizona Game and Fish said Monday in a news release.

The shooting likely happened between 5 p.m. Oct. 21 and 4 a.m. Oct. 22 in the 1400 block of South Cherrybell Stravenue, in a neighborhood southeast of East 22nd Street and South Kino Parkway, the release said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the department’s Operation Game Thief Hotline at 800-352-0700. Calls can be anonymous. Callers can reference case number OGT#24-002958.

The maximum penalties for illegal taking of wildlife are four months in jail and a $750 fine.
