UPDATE: Atlantic Union Bank in James City County robbed; search underway for suspect. Reward offered

JAMES CITY COUNTY — James City County Police are looking for a man suspected of robbing a bank Thursday.

Officers responded to a robbery call at Atlantic Atlantic Union Bank, 5125 John Tyler Highway, at 12:19 p.m., said police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams.

Williams said the suspect, described as a 6-foot-2 “thin” Black man, who was around 50 years old, went inside the bank and said he had a gun but did not “display it.”

“He was wearing a burgundy button-up shirt and a cloth mask, glasses, jeans and a ball cap,” Williams said.

The ball cap was orange or red and his clothing was described as “being baggy,” she said.

The suspect managed to escape with money — police did not disclose the amount. He fled on foot.

Police said “the suspect discarded the clothing that he is pictured wearing not far from the bank.”

No injuries were reported.
