Reward offered for information regarding Sandusky County fire

The state fire marshal is offering a $5,000 reward for information regarding a June 25 house fire in Gibsonburg.

The Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to 2416 Sandusky County Road 62 at approximately 10:13 p.m. June 25 for a reported structure fire. Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered a fully engulfed detached garage and a fire on the inside of the single-family residence. No one was home at the time and the fire was extinguished without injury but the total loss was estimated at more than $100,000.

An ongoing joint investigation with the State Fire Marshal’s office, Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office and Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department has determined the fire was intentionally set, according to a press release issued Friday.

The fire marshal’s Blue Ribbon Arson Committee is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for it.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the state fire marshal’s tip line at 800-589-2728.
