The Texas Department of Public Safety is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone who can help identify a man who threw a homemade explosive device at a church near the Capitol on Tuesday.

The man had approached the church, located about a block west of the Capitol grounds, between 1 and 1:30 a.m. He threw the Molotov cocktail against the wall of the building and ran away from the scene, according to a news release from the department.

State troopers responded but couldn’t find the suspect. An arson investigator from the Austin Fire Department is helping DPS investigate.

The man was wearing a white, long-sleeved shirt with a Pizza Planet design, black shorts, white tennis shoes, a black backpack and latex gloves. He had a skateboard, too.

Anyone with information leading to his arrest should submit a tip to Texas Crime Stoppers online or by phone: 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
