DIAMOND BAR, CA — City leaders OK’d a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash last month that took the life of a 72-year-old Diamond Bar resident.
The Diamond Bar City Council unanimously approved the reward during its Aug. 3 meeting to find the person or persons involved in Bruce Bodel’s death. Bodel died after he was struck while out for a walk near his home on the night of July 4.
“This is truly a senseless crime and absolutely devastating for the family,” Mayor Nancy Lyons said at the meeting. “We are asking for anyone with information on this horrendous crime to please come forward.”

Bodel was crossing Lycoming Street from Penarth Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on July 4 when a car failed to stop at the intersection and hit him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The car continued to travel west down Lycoming Street before going south on Lemon Avenue.
Bodel died several days later from his injuries.
