BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham pastors are working together to help stop what some call the ‘no snitch’ culture in the Magic City.
“How can we as a community point the finger at other people when we have a no snitch rule inside our community and we refused to speak up,” Pastor Thomas Beavers said.
Pastor Thomas Beavers with New Rising Star joining other pastors and city leaders Tuesday who want the “no-snitch” culture to come to an end. They are hoping $125,000 in reward money will help change that. The city is partnering with pastors and other agencies hoping people will speak up about the recent unsolved shootings involving children.
The money will be offered through the Metro Crime Stoppers program.
“We certainly at Crime Stoppers agree with the mayor and his staff that this stuff has got to stop. This is just absolutely ridiculous,” Frank Barefield with Crime Stoppers said.

“You are totally anonymous, and we have no way to track who calls us. We can’t call anybody back. We can’t provide that information to law enforcement,” Barefield said.
Barefiled says that information does give law enforcement a tip and a direction to search and gather what they need to help solve cases. Getting that reward money is fast. Barefield says you give a tip this week and get paid next week.
