Detectives investigating a brutal attack on a man in Birmingham city centre have issued a renewed appeal for information one year on.
The victim – a 57-year-old man – was left with serious brain damage after being set upon by a group of men and women on Upper Dean Street, on October 5 last year.
He was punched in the head and knocked unconscious before being rushed to hospital where he was kept ‘for a very long time’.

In the aftermath of the attack, five arrests were made.
But one man wanted in connection with the assault still hasn’t been traced. Today, police have issued CCTV footage of a person they want to speak to in relation to the incident.
Crimestoppers is offering a £5,000 reward for information.
A re-appeal, issued today by Birmingham Police, read: “The independent charity Crimestoppers has renewed their reward of up to £5000 for information to find a man wanted in connection with a serious assault in Birmingham City Centre, last October.
“The attack took place on the evening of Monday 5 October at around 10.02pm. A 57-year-old man was walking in the City Centre along Upper Dean Street when a group of men and women approached him. Shortly after he was punched in the head and knocked unconscious to the floor.
“He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with a bleed on the brain – a serious life-threatening condition. He was placed in an induced coma and was in hospital for a very long time.
“Although he’s since woken up, he’s been left with serious brain damage that will last a lifetime.
“Five of the group have already been arrested. One man wanted in connection with this assault has still not been identified.
“One year on from the attack the appeal to trace him has been renewed. Do you know who he is?
“Crimestoppers is offering a renewed reward of up to £5,000 for information the charity exclusively receives − either online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling freephone 0800 555 111 – that leads to the arrest & conviction of the unidentified man wanted in connection with this serious assault.
