CAMARILLO, Calif. (KNX) – A $17,000 reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for stealing a dog from a Camarillo animal shelter.
Footage posted on social media by Paw Works on June 9 showed a person wearing a hoodie attempted to coerce a dog out of its crate. When the dog resisted, the intruder went to a crate where a dog named Pretty Girl was taken out of her crate. The dog tried to resist, but was taken out of the shelter by the intruder.

PawWorks said Pretty Girl was found on later that day on Route 101 and rescued by a god Samaritan named Ali. The dog was taken to the Paw Works Veterinary Hospital where she died.
The dog had “severe back, neck, and head trauma”, as well as “intense bruising and bleeding in her abdomen and swelling around her rectum,” officials said.
“This vulnerable dog needed someone to love and care for her, but instead, someone stole her, abused her, and left her for dead,” PETA Senior Vice President Colleen O’Brien said.
Paw Works raised funds to create a reward for the conviction and arrest of the suspect. After raising $12,000, PETA added $5,000 that brought up the total amount to $17,000.
