$1K reward offered in search for Ogden vandals

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — Ogden City is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest or prosecution of any individuals deemed responsible for recent vandalism, according to a social media post from the Ogden Police Department.

“Vandalism comes in many forms, right now graffiti and damage done to our public restrooms in our parks are hurting our city,” Ogden police said.

Police said vandalism can sometimes bring permanent damage, and repairing that damage is often an expensive, time-consuming effort.

“We are asking you to help us combat the alarming uptick in tagging and vandalism throughout Ogden City parks,” police said.

The $1,000 reward being offered by the city of Ogden will be given to people whose information leads to the “prosecution or arrest of any individual involved in graffiti or vandalism throughout Ogden City parks, specifically pertaining to public restrooms,” according to officials.

Individuals with information about vandalism — at any parks in Ogden City boundaries — have been asked to contact Ogden Police Investigations at (801) 629-8228.

“We need your eyes and ears to help combat graffiti and vandalism in our beloved parks,” police said.

Ogden police are also urging residents who live near parks and notice “suspicious activity, graffiti, or vandalism” to reach out. Furthermore, residents are encouraged to confront or apprehend individuals engaged in suspicious activity.

If residents are calling to inform police of previous vandalism that “is not currently in progress,” they are asked to contact the Community Policing Bureau at (801) 629-8035.

“Your vigilance and cooperation can play a crucial role in maintaining the beauty and safety of our community spaces,” police said.
