$30K Reward: Police need your help to identify suspect seen slamming dog on sidewalk

A reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of a suspect caught on video assaulting a dog in Southeast, D.C.  has been increased to $30,000, according to the Humane Rescue Alliance.

The organization previously offered a $22,500 reward for information leading to the suspect but has since announced that they will contribute $15,000 for information leading to the safe recovery of the abused dog caught on video. And an additional $15,000 reward will be given to the person who can provide information leading to the suspect–totaling $30,000.

The rescue is investigating the incident, which happened around 6:30 a.m. on Monday, March 28 in Southeast DC near Pomeroy Sheridan roads.

A man was seen on several doorbell videos yanking a dog across the sidewalk, before picking up the dog and slamming it on the sidewalk. Then kicking and dragging the animal. The suspect is seen wearing a black Helly Hanson jacket, with the HH logo on the shoulder and chest.

HRA released new photos of the suspect captured on surveillance footage. Do you recognize this person?

“Our Humane Law Enforcement team has been working around the clock to investigate every lead in this case. But we still need the public’s help to solve it. We’re hopeful the increased reward will motivate anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible, and that the $15,000 reward will lead to the dog’s safe recovery into our care,” said Chris Schindler, Vice President of Field Services at the Humane Rescue Alliance.

In addition to a $20,000 reward from internationally bestselling author Don Winslow, generous members of the public have stepped forward to partner with HRA to offer this increased reward totaling $30,000.
