$5,000 reward offered to find person that burned, killed a litter of puppies in Lexington

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A reward is being offered to find the person who allegedly burned and killed a litter of puppies in Lexington.

The Humane Society of the United States is offering the $5,000 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case dating back to May.

Animal Cruelty Investigators said the litter of 13 puppies, who were estimated to be only 8 days old, were found at an intersection near Todds Road and North Cleveland in Fayette County on May 29.

Seven of the puppies had already died from what investigators said was an intentional burning. The remaining puppies were rushed to the veterinary  hospital for treatment but did not make it.

Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control Lt. Jai Hamilton said plans are to file 13 felony counts of animal cruelty in the first degree against the person or persons responsible.

“We want to find them. We want to hold them accountable for what they did,” Hamilton said. “Someone who is capable of this cruel act is absolutely an evil person and needs to be held responsible.”
