Reward offered for information in elk poaching case

FORT HALL — Shoshone Bannock Tribes Fish and Game Enforcement is offering a reward for information about two bull elk that were killed and left to waste on Wednesday night.

According to a Facebook post by the agency, the animals were killed in the Narrows area, southeast of Blackfoot. Officials say they believe the elk were poached Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

The person or people responsible cut the heads off both bull elk. One of the hind quarters was also taken. The rest of the meat was left to waste.

“This is not acceptable by our office, the Tribe … nor should it be acceptable by our hunters,” the post says.
