Ramone L. Carter, 3, was shot while playing outside with his other siblings and friends on Domedion Avenue Friday evening.

Crime Stoppers WNY is offering a reward of up to $7,500 for information about Friday night’s shooting that killed a 3-year-old boy and wounded his 7-year-old sister.

The shooting happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Domedion Avenue, off Genesee Street near the Buffalo-Cheektowaga border, Buffalo police said.

Ramone L. Carter, nicknamed Red for his hair color, was declared dead at Erie County Medical Center. Jamia Griffin, 7, was grazed by a bullet, police said. The children were outside playing when gunshots were fired.

Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia told The Buffalo News on Monday morning that the investigation is moving forward but that he could not share any details beyond the information distributed at a Saturday news conference.

He said detectives have been canvassing the area for video and that tips from the community have been helpful to the investigation.

“There was a lot collected over the weekend and detectives have been reviewing all of it,” Gramaglia said. “And that takes time.”

The reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.

Authorities ask anyone with information to call 716-867-6161 or submit a tip through Crime Stoppers’ “Buffalo Tips” app.
