75 animals seized in alleged cruelty, neglect case on Sunbury property in Delaware County

Dozens of animals were seized Tuesday from a property in Sunbury as part of an investigation into alleged cruelty and neglect.

Delaware County Sheriff’s deputies assisted officers with the Humane Society of Delaware County, seizing 75 live animals, including turkeys, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and dogs.

Crews were at a property on Todd Street Road for much of the day.

The Humane Society says animals removed showed signs they did not have proper nutrition and care.

Only ABC 6 crews were there when officers seized evidence from a barn on the property.

Officers discovered signs of cock-fighting on the 11-acre property.

ABC 6 knocked on the door of a home on the property, but no one answered the door.

Authorities say it’s too early to determine what charges could be filed in the investigation.

The 75 live animals seized have been taken to the Delaware County Humane Society, where they will be evaluated to determine what kind of care they will receive.
