Arrest made in mass animal cruelty case in Lafayette County

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) — North Mississippi is dealing with another mass animal cruelty case.

Lafayette County deputies responded on Sunday, Aug. 4 to a home on County Road 418.

They found several malnourished and dead dogs; however, they did not find anyone there, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Ultimately, authorities rescued 20 animals and found 10 animals dead.

Deputies arrested Terry Pegues, 47, on Wednesday. He faces 10 counts of animal cruelty.

A similar case happened in Alcorn County. That resulted in two arrests.
