After the Herald & Review called to check on the posting, it was confirmed in a news release from Lt. Scott Rosenbery.

A check of the jail’s booking records show Tyus arrived for processing at 12:07 a.m. Thursday and was released at 12:30 a.m. and ordered to keep an appointment with the office of the Macon County State’s Attorney at 9 a.m. Jan. 11.

Rosenbery announced Tuesday that police were seeking the public’s help in finding the 53-year-old defendant after the bodies of the pit bull puppies were discovered by patrol officers Dec. 11 in the yard of a home in the 1200 block of East Whitmer Street.

A third puppy was found starved but alive and is now recovering under the care of the Macon County Animal Control and Care Center.

Tyus has been booked on three charges involving the cruel treatment of animals.

“The Decatur Police Department prioritizes addressing animal cruelty and will actively investigate to guarantee animals receive the compassionate care they rightfully deserve,” Rosenbery had said in a statement when police first announced they were seeking the arrest of Tyus.
