Man charged with animal cruelty for allegedly punching dog

A Vermont man will face a judge after he was seen allegedly punching a dog while walking along Route 107 in Bethel.Police later caught up with the man walking with a German Shepard and identified him as 26-year-old Colby Johnson, of Tunbridge. Investigators determined that Johnson had an active arrest warrant for writing bad checks. He was cited and released with an additional charge of animal cruelty.He appeared in court on Wednesday to answer to the bad check charge and is due in court to answer to the animal cruelty charge on Sept. 5.Anyone with additional information about the animal cruelty charge is asked to contact the Royalton Barracks at 802-234-9933.
