RPSO investigating social media videos depicting alleged animal cruelty

(KALB) – Videos are spreading across social media of alleged animal abuse against dogs at Cypress Arrow Kennel and K9 Academy in Lena.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office said they were made aware of the allegations and released the following statement:

We reached out to Kayci Gonzales, owner of one of the dogs depicted on video, who said she was shocked to see how her dog was treated while being trained.

“It was very hard to watch, I didn’t even watch the entire 34 seconds the first time I opened it, because I had seen enough. It’s ridiculous, it’s unnecessary. She’s sweet. There’s no reason for any dog to be treated like that, but especially not someone as mild as her,” she said.

Gonzales made it clear she had no idea that her dog was being treated this way, and that she does intend to press charges against the trainer. Gonzales said she is urging owners of other dogs that have been abused at the Cypress Arrow Kennel and K9 Academy to come forward and share their stories with law enforcement.

“I want all the owners of the dogs in the other videos…that they do need to reach out to the detectives,” she said. “It seems like everyone is very intimidated by this woman and everyone is under the impression that the law can’t touch her, and we definitely need to prove that theory wrong. I hope that the law steps up and proves that wrong.”
