Schenectady man sentenced over 17 years for fatal shooting, animal cruelty

According to the Schoharie County Court, 20-year-old Jeffrey McGough, of Schenectady, was sentenced to 17 years and six months in prison after being convicted of manslaughter, robbery and animal cruelty.

McGough was sentenced to 17 1/2 years for both manslaughter and robbery, and two years for animal cruelty, however, those terms will run concurrently.

This sentencing comes less than two months after McGough and Devon Hunter, who’s sentencing was adjourned on Friday, pled guilty to robbing, shooting and killing a man and his dog.

According to the Schoharie County District Attorney’s office, McGough and Hunter unlawfully entered 21-year-old Connor Delaney’s home in Richmondville.

While they were in his home, Delaney and his beloved dog, Bo, were shot and killed.
