The horrific subway shooting in Brooklyn — coming on the heels of a shooting at American Dream a few days earlier — shook many of us to the core, leaving us worried about our commutes and questioning how safe we are in any public setting.

It also brought us stories of heroism and reminded us of the inherent good in society, as people rallied to help those in need.

You don’t need public tragedies to find heroes, though. In fact, all you have to do is look to a local classroom to find them — they are there every day working with our children. And this past week, one teacher, quite literally, saved a life in her classroom. Check out this video and story.

The classroom, for other reasons, was on the mind of many parents this week as a wave of media honed in on the new sex education guidelines in New Jersey. We wanted to get to the bottom of what the new guidelines actually say should be taught. Dustin Racioppi provides you the scoop on what changed — and all that didn’t.

And on this Easter Sunday and in the midst of Passover, it’s worth reminiscing with Bill Ervolino as he recounts family holiday gatherings, baking and lots (and lots) of eggs. After a week replete with tragedy, we could all use a reason to smile.

Be well, happy holidays and thanks for your support.
