Game wardens investigating after legally killed deer’s head stolen west of Kalispell

Game wardens are asking for the public’s help after a hunter legally harvested a deer west of Kalispell during opening weekend, briefly left the animal to get a game cart, and came back to discover its head had been removed.

Cut marks were found on the carcass.

The deer head can be identified by five-by-five antlers with a unique drop tine. A photograph has been posted here.

Anyone with possible information is asked to visit tipmont.mt.gov or call the local game warden at 406-871-3104. Callers may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
