Man accused of using fake check to buy F-250 replies to his own bounty post on Facebook

NASHUA, N.H. (WKRC) – A man who was accused of using a fake check to buy a $50,000 Ford F-250 Lariat replied to his own bounty post on Facebook.

A Ford dealership took to Facebook on October 30 to ask the community of Nashua, New Hampshire with help finding a man who allegedly used a fake check to purchase a 2020 F-250 crew cab pickup truck.

“We’re reaching out to our local community in Nashua and surrounding areas for assistance in locating one of our vehicles. A gentleman named Ryan Duval recently made a fake check and left Best Ford in a 2020 White Ford F-250 Lariat Crew Cab (last 6 of the VIN: C26028) valued at about $50,000,” the dealership wrote.

The dealership wrote that it had contacted the suspect, 36-year-old Ryan Duval, on Facebook but said that he refused to return the F-Series pickup.

“Also please do not approach this person, he is not a good guy. A quick google search will show you that he has been arrested for bad checks several times, see the link in this post, along with theft by unauthorized taking, and a few other things,” the dealership wrote in the post.

In closing, the business announced that it was offering a $1,000 reward for anyone who could help locate the truck.

According to The Drive,Duval left town after taking the vehicle, but dropped in the comments of the dealership’s bounty post after one commenter wrote that they had seen the suspect at an AutoZone.

“Pretty sure I just saw this guy at Autozone buying RealTree floor mats for this truck,” the commenter wrote.

“nope weather tech,” Duval responded.

The Drive reported that other alleged comments written Duval may now be deleted.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reported that Duval was eventually located and arrested, adding that he was previously wanted due to allegedly stealing from a Lowe’s location.

He is charged with the following, per the publication:

  • Theft by deception
  • Theft by unauthorized taking

When speaking to Automotive News, the dealership confirmed that police “ultimately found him and the vehicle.”
