Man arrested with drugs, $3,800 stolen Lululemon gear in Northeast DC traffic stop

Police caught a man with illegal drugs and over $3,800 of stolen Lululemon merchandise during a traffic stop Saturday in Northeast, D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers said they were patrolling in the 3400 block of 12th Street in Northeast when they saw a driver violating traffic. The officers said they initiated a traffic stop and found that the driver, later identified as 30-year-old Charles Mitchell-Baynes of Northwest, had illegal substances and stolen clothing from Lululemon worth thousands of dollars.

Officials said they arrested Mitchell-Baynes and charged him with Felony Receiving Stolen Property and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.

The incident, officials said, remains under investigation. Anyone who has information is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible, officials said.
