Reward increased for capture of man who sexually battered 91-year-old woman in Marion County

The Florida Sheriff’s Association added $5,000 to the thousand dollars already being offered by Crime Stoppers of Marion County.”We’re hoping that that is enough to get somebody who knows something that can help our detectives, and again, we have every detective we have working on this, hoping we can come to a quick resolution to this,” Lt. Paul Bloom said.Reddick’s a community of only a few hundred. Many doubt the suspect’s a local guy. In addition to every detective assigned to the case, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office crime lab analyzes evidence gathered at the scene.”Detectives are still following up on leads, a lot of evidence is still being processed, and gone through meticulously,” Bloom said.The victim’s home was dark, Saturday into Sunday, in the middle of the night. The only description is of a man.”Ninety-one-year-old lady imagine her waking up in the middle of the night, she just saw a dark shadow moving through her house, somebody sneaking through her house,” Bloom said.Now, a beefed-up reward, hoping to increase the effort to put a dangerous person in jail.”If somebody knows, come forward and say something because it’s not right,” Morales said.WESH 2 News was told the victim is still dealing with significant bruising.
