Theft investigation underway, 25 year-old charged: Deputies

A 25-year-old has been charged following a theft incident, Henry County deputies said.

On Sunday, at approximately 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to the Figsboro General Store located at 3899 Figsboro Road for a robbery call. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a theft had occurred and it was not a robbery. A former employee had entered the store and stolen a money box from behind the counter.

The suspect was identified as Jacob Andrew Martin, 25, of Martinsville. The owner of Figsboro General Store reported that Martin was a previous employee and had stolen $240.00 from the same money box while still employed.

After stealing the money box, Martin fled on foot and was found a short time later hiding under the porch of his home on Dog Patch Lane. He was taken into custody without incident, deputies said.
