Travel times on major routes are currently as follows: From the Raritan Toll Plaza to Exit 117, Sandy Hook, the trip takes 8 minutes via local lanes. Travel to Exit 98, Belmar, is 26 minutes via both express and local lanes. The drive to Exit 63, Long Beach Island, is 59 minutes via express lanes and 58 minutes via local lanes.
Commuters heading to Exit 38, Atlantic City, can expect a 1 hour and 22 minutes drive via both express and local lanes. The journey to Exit 28, Ocean City, takes 1 hour and 33 minutes via express lanes and 1 hour and 30 minutes via local lanes. For those traveling to Exit 4, Wildwood, the trip is 1 hour and 55 minutes via both express and local lanes.
Several incidents are affecting traffic. On US 40 in Upper Pittsgrove Township, both directions are closed west of CR 671/Aura-Willow Grove due to a downed tree and downed wires.
On I-80 eastbound in Denville Township, the right shoulder is closed west of Exit 38 (US 46) due to a crash. NJ 23 in Little Falls Township and Cedar Grove Township is fully closed and detoured due to a water main break between CR 631/Main St and north of CR 527/North Mountain Ave. Additionally, on the Garden State Parkway southbound in Toms River Township, one right lane is blocked south of Exit 81 (CR 549/Lakehurst Rd) due to a crash.
On US 202 in Morris Township, all lanes are closed north of Harter Rd due to a water main break. The New Jersey Turnpike – Western Spur northbound in Newark has one right lane blocked north of Interchange 15E (US 1&9) due to a disabled tractor-trailer.
The New Jersey Turnpike – Eastern Spur southbound in Newark has one right lane blocked at the exit ramp Interchange 15E (US 1&9) due to an overturned tractor-trailer.
Bridge and tunnel delays are also notable. The George Washington Bridge is experiencing 15-minute delays on both the upper and lower levels eastbound.

- Juvenile Trio Arrested Following D.C. Carjacking
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The D.C. Metro Police swiftly apprehended three suspects following an unarmed carjacking incident in Southeast.
On Saturday, July 27, just before 11 p.m., two suspects confronted victims in the 5300 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast, demanding they exit their vehicle. The victims complied, and the suspects fled with the car. Shortly afterward, the Real Time Crime Center and the Air Support Unit located the stolen vehicle with three suspects inside. All were arrested, and the victims’ vehicle and belongings were recovered.
The suspects, including a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old from Southeast D.C., were charged with Carjacking. Another 13-year-old from Northeast D.C. faces charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Receiving Stolen Property.
- Man Shot to Death in D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A fatal shooting in Southeast D.C. has resulted in the death of 44-year-old Bobby Addison.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 28, at about 2:43 p.m., when D.C. Metro Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 3200 block of 28th Street, Southeast. Officers found Addison unconscious and not breathing, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
