2 from Grand Island, one from Hastings among Nebraska’s missing

An event Oct. 17 in Lincoln will call attention to Nebraskans who are missing, including one person from Hastings and two from Grand Island.

The inaugural Nebraska Missing Persons Day will be launched at 10 a.m. Oct. 17 at First Christian Church in Lincoln.

Organizers of the event are family members of seven missing Nebraskans: Marilyn Alexander of Hastings, Regina Bos of Lincoln, Chance Englebert of Gering, Tyler Goodrich of Lincoln, Jason Jolkowski of Omaha, Christopher Loupin of Elm Creek and Tarie Price of Gretna.

Alexander

Alexander was last seen leaving work on Sept. 20, 2001. Her car was found north of Red Cloud a month after she was reported missing. She had two previous last names. Johnson was her maiden name, and Flesner was from a previous marriage. Thirty-nine at the time she went missing, she would currently be 62.

Also missing are two Grand Islanders.

Janet Lee Callies hasn’t been seen since Nov. 15, 1978. She was last seen at the Sundowner, a Grand Island bar. At 8:30 p.m., Callies was planning to leave the bar to pick up her daughter at her apartment and take her to dinner. She never arrived at the apartment. Her car has never been located, and she has not been seen or heard from since her disappearance. Her car was a red-and- beige four-door 1975 Dodge Dart with Nebraska plates 8C4696. Forty years old at the time of her disappearance, she would now be 85.

Ortiz-Carreras

Missing since Dec. 16, 2016, is Fernando Ortiz-Carreras. He was last seen on Dec. 10 of that year in north-central Grand Island. He was never heard from again. He was not reported missing until Dec. 16 of that year.

Ortiz-Carreras, who was 34 at the time, is missing under suspicious circumstances. Foul play is suspected. A $1,000 reward is available.

The disappearance date of Gina Bos, missing from Lincoln since Oct. 17, 2000, was chosen to represent missing Nebraskans. Nebraska legislators made Nebraska Missing Persons Day a part of LB1102.

A pre-launch concert will be held Oct. 16 at Meadowlark Coffee and Espresso in Lincoln, running from 7 to 9 p.m.
