Authorities confirm body pulled from Madison pond was missing woman

Authorities on Tuesday confirmed that the body pulled from a Madison pond on Thursday was a woman who went missing the Monday before.

The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office said Brooke L. Strattan 24, of McFarland, was the person whose body was recovered from a retention pond near the 3500 block of Monroe Street on Thursday.

A forensic examination was completed at the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office on Saturday, but the cause and manner of death are pending at this time and additional testing is underway.

This death remains under investigation by Madison police and the medical examiner’s office.

Strattan had recently come out of rehab and was reportedly living with the convicted felon police are now questioning in her disappearance, a relative said Friday.

The man was taken into custody on a state Department of Corrections warrant the night before Strattan’s body was pulled from the pond, but has not been charged in Strattan’s disappearance, Madison police said.
