Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers increase reward for missing man one year after disappearance

Monday, March 7 marked one year since Schertz resident Jacob Dubois was last seen or heard from by his family and friends. The Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers reward for information leading to an arrest in the case has gone up to $10,000 because of donations from family and friends, according to a Schertz Police Department news release.

Dubois’ parents, Joel and Silvia, observed his 23rd birthday without him, according to the release.

On March 7, 2021, Dubois told his girlfriend that he was going to meet with his friend, Ethan Beckham, but didn’t return the next morning, the release stated. His girlfriend called the Schertz police and they got in contact with Beckham.

Beckham told police the two had driven to a construction site near Dubois’ home on Homestead Parkway and Somervell, where Beckaham said Dubois told him he was going to walk home, according to the release.

On March 9, 2021, Dubois was entered as a missing person after not being reached or returning home. On March 10, detectives spoke with Beckham, who gave police conflicting stories about the events that happened on the night Dubois was last seen, the release stated.

Beckham’s 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GTI was involved in a collision on March 8. Based on information collected during the investigation, its believed that after the collision, Beckham drove his car north on 281 and parked it on Johnson Way, according to the release.

On March 11, 2021, detectives seized Beckham’s car. Upon initial inspection, it appeared as someone attempted to clean the inside to the point where the floorboard was soaked with water. The prescience of blood was also discovered on and around the passenger seat during the search, according to the release.

Beckham was arrested in suspicion of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, a third-degree felony, on March 29, 2021. Detectives believe Dubois is missing due to foul play and has turned the case into an ongoing murder investigation, according to the release.
