Police provide update on missing Fruitland boy

The Fruitland Police Department provided an update on Michael Vaughan, the 5-year-old boy who went missing in July.

Police believe they know who may be the owner of the white Honda Pilot, the vehicle that was spotted near Vaughan’s home during the time he disappeared on July 27, 2021, according to a Facebook post from Fruitland police.

The day Vaughan went missing from his neighborhood, his scent was traced by K9 dogs but abruptly stopped at the end of his street.

Multiple press conferences and ground searches ensued.

Police said in their update that the reward for Vaughan’s safe return is now up to $52,860.

Police also said they received nearly 850 leads, and nearly all have been cleared. They still believe Vaughan was possibly abducted.

”We are working through newly obtained data from that time frame and are hopeful that will produce new leads. This is an exhaustive, labor intensive task,” the Facebook post said.
