Reward offered for finding missing K9 out of Davis County Sheriff’s Office

A reward has been offered for anyone who finds the missing K9 out of Davis County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials with the office posted on Facebook that K9 Kash had been missing for nine days as of Wednesday, and offered a $1,000 reward for anyone who could safely return the dog.

It was announced Monday that the active search for K9 Kash had been called off due to the search using resources the office needs to serve the community.

PREVIOUS REPORTING:

“We believe that Kash was picked up by someone who does not know he is a missing police K9. We will continue to investigate leads. Today, we’re announcing a $1,000 incentive for his safe return,” officials posted.

The Sheriff’s Office provided key details of Kash’s disappearance and the search:

  • He was last seen Oct. 21 when taken outside, unleashed, for a bathroom break
  • He was donated to the Sheriff’s Office in September and is meant to attend training in January to become the first Davis County Corrections K9
  • Kash is 1 year old and a German Shorthaired Pointer, unneutered and has a docked tail.
  • He had not been microchipped or given tags that identified him as a K9 because he was so new to the department.
  • He has been searched for by drone and ground search in “Farmington City,he Waterfowl Management area, Farmington Canyon, and surrounding areas.”
  • Fliers have been hung and animal shelters across the Wasatch Front have been made aware.

Officials said, “An administrative review is ongoing to determine how we can prevent a situation like this moving forward.”

The office asked that if anyone is aware of Kash’s whereabouts to call Davis County dispatch, send a message on Facebook, or take him to Animal Care of Davis County.
