Texas family searches for beloved dog who went missing in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Erika Barrera and her 10-year-old daughter were visiting close friends in Tulsa around October 5, 2023 with their two dogs when one of their puppies, Bruno went missing.

“We left the dogs at my friend’s place when I went to the store. The window was cracked and somehow, Bruno got out,” said Barrera. “Our trip became a nightmare. After we lost our little furry baby. We drove, we walked, we posted flyers in the neighborhood and we called his name on almost every street in the area. We did all we could and had no luck. On Sunday we had to come back to Texas and we left heartbroken.”

Barrera says Bruno is a very special dog. They found him as a stray when they moved from Tulsa to Texas a few years ago.

“His hair was matted and he had ticks when we rescued him,” said Barrera.

Barrera, her daughter and their other dog, Gracie have been devastated not knowing where Bruno is.

“My daughter cries a lot. We feel empty and today she had to go to the counselor. It is hard for us to even look for him because we don’t live in the area,” said Barrera.

The single mom has even put up a $300 reward for anyone who is able to return Bruno to their family.

“I wish it could be more,” said Barrera.

She has been checking the Tulsa Animal Welfare website and animal rescue groups on Facebook hoping to find a post with a sighting of Bruno.

Barrera said the support from the community has been overwhelming. Her missing flyer of Bruno has been shared hundreds of times on social media.

He was last seen in north Tulsa, near downtown.

“I think he is somewhere in Tulsa,” said Barrera.

She is hoping that if someone sees Bruno, they will recognize him and contact her.

“We miss him so much and we just want him home,” said Barrera.
