What happened to 14-year-old Sarah Boehm? Search for answers continues 30 years later

Nearly 30 years ago, 14-year-old Sarah Boehm of Beaver County was reported missing by her parents. Months later, her body would be discovered in the middle of the woods in Ohio. Boehm disappeared on July 14, 1994 from her home in Rochester, Beaver County, with nothing but the clothes she was wearing and her purse. On Nov 4 that same year, hunters found her body in the Berlin Reservoir in an Ohio state park. The location was two hours away from where Boehm lived. It wasn’t until 2003, when she was officially identified. Just one month after Boehm’s disappearance, another unsolved murder occurred. Kathryn Menendez, 17, from Portage County, Ohio, was found unclothed and strangled. The bodies of Menendez and Boehm were discovered within a half-mile of each other, but investigators have not been able to determine if the deaths are connected. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is searching for information in both cases. The agency wants to know how Boehm ended up in Ohio and information regarding Menendez’s murder. In 2011, investigators hoped a hidden letter written by the Boehm would yield clues. “I’ve always said the day I walk out the door is the day I never return,” the letter read. “I’m just a burden. I create problems. I’ve already learned you don’t have time for me and you don’t care.”The farewell note later talks about an older abusive man.”I met a guy who gave me love and whatever else I was not getting at home,” the letter says. “He was a very, very abusive man. Didn’t anyone wonder why I was always injured and said I fell?”If you have any information concerning this person, please contact your local FBI office or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
