Three fire departments have received donations from the organizers of the 9/11 Hero Climb held at St. Joseph High School last week. BOSS Services co-owner Jeff Street tells us the company organized the event to honor those whose lives were lost in the terrorist attacks of 9/11. The goal was to support first responders with the proceeds.
“I think all around first responders are kind of underserved,” Street said.
Participants and first responders climbed 2,071 stadium stairs in remembrance of New York City first responders who sacrificed their lives on 9/11, while some walked a mile on the track to show their support. Street says he was serving in the Marine Corps when 9/11 happened, and he remembers it well.
“We watched as firefighters went in and risked, and lost their lives, trying to save the victims in the Twin Towers. Honoring their memory and raising money for local first responders is near and dear to my heart and to BOSS Services heart.”
BOSS Services raised $9,000 with the Hero Climb, and it presented checks of $3,000 each to the fire departments in Benton Township, St. Joseph Township, and St. Joseph Monday. The departments will use the money to buy gear.
