Firefighter-Paramedic Won’t Regain Consciousness After Crash

WILMINGTON, IL — A GoFundMe called “To Help With Medical” is trying to raise $20,000 following Friday night’s motorcycle crash involving Dave Pollack, a firefighter-paramedic at both the Wilmington Fire Protection District and Coal City Fire Protection District.

“During the night on Friday, Dave was out on his motorcycle when he hit an unseen spare tire that was in the roadway,” the GoFundMe noted, “causing Dave to be thrown from his motorcycle. Dave was initially cared for by Braidwood fire department and was then flown by superior helicopter to Advocate Christ hospital. Due to the massive amount of injuries Dave sustained to his neurological system, the doctors stated that he will never regain consciousness.”

Through organ donations, Pollack has been able to save at least four to six more lives, according to the GoFundMe.

So far, 93 people have made donations totaling $8,830. The goal is to raise $20,000. According to the organizers, all proceeds will go to his wife Julissa to help with all medical bills.

“Let’s blow this goal out of the water and show how many people knew Dave Pollack,” remarked GoFundMe organizer Devon Goss.
