Hazelton paramedic and firefighter responds to own home on fire

HAZLETON, Ind. (WEHT) — What was first a quiet evening at work at Princeton Fire became a nightmare for A.J. Alldredge — as his boyfriend and two sons were inside their home with their attic on fire.

“My youngest son called and said that the house was on fire and was on FaceTime with me at the same time while my other,” Alldredge said.

Alldredge tells Eyewitness News that his sons are doing fine after the fire.

“They’re going good. They want to come in and see what it looks like. They haven’t been back in here since it started,” Alldredge said. “And they want to get some of their stuff out, but they’re doing okay.”

Meanwhile, a feeling like this is bittersweet.

“It was an eerie feeling,” Alldredge said. “I’m just glad I was able to see our kids okay, and they were standing out in the driveway waiting on me.”

Alldredge says an electric fire in the attic burned through the ceiling, but this situation could have been worse.

“They got here very quick and save the house,” Alldredge said. “I would say after it came through that wall — it would start spreading pretty quick.”

Alldredge is asking for prayers as the family continues to rebuild their home.
